According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the final count of fatal work injuries in the United States in 2014 was 4,821, up from the preliminary count of 4,679 reported in September 2015 and the highest annual total since 2008. The overall fatal work injury rate for the United States in 2014 was 3.4 fatal injuries per 100,000 full-time equivalent (FTE) workers, slightly higher than the final rate of 3.3 reported for 2013. The higher overall rate in 2014 is the first increase in the national fatal injury rate since 2010.

Over 50 Safety Fest TN classes will be offered starting on Monday, Sept. 12th and things will really get rolling with a Safety Forum at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, Sept. 13th featuring Joe Estey. Joe, is a nationally known Human Performance Improvement specialist, who brings innovative solutions to difficult problems facing some of our country’s highest hazard and most complex industries. The Safety Expo also kicks off on Tuesday, Sept. 13th at 11:00 am with over 40 exhibitors. And the “Secret City” Fire Officer Conference kicks off on Wednesday, Sept. 15th.
