For the most recent year validated statistics are available, the final count of fatal work injuries in the United States in 2016 was 5,190, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). This is a 7-percent increase from the 4,836 fatal injuries reported in 2015 and the third year in a row the number has increased. The United States is now looking at more than 14 workers dying every day on the job. The overall fatal work injury rate for the United States in 2016 was 3.6 fatal injuries per 100,000 full-time equivalent (FTE) workers. This is the highest fatality rate since 2010!

Safety Fest TN will be held September 10 – 14, 2018 at multiple locations in Oak Ridge and Knoxville, TN. The event is the combined efforts small and large businesses; federal, state and local agencies; and non-profit organizations.

The event’s sole purpose is to promote safety at work, at home, and in the community.

Last year’s event included 103 free safety classes, sessions, and demonstrations. The 77 instructors and presenters were graciously provided by organizations, just like yours, giving back to the community. Your organization can partner, sponsor or provide resources too – showing commitment to safety at work, at home, and in the community!
